Boarding the Bus
As the bus approaches, check the route number and destination displayed above the windshield, as some bus stops are served by more than one route. If you are able, wave to the driver to let them know you want to ride.
If you are traveling with a bike, click here for more information on how to use the bike rack.
Have the proper cash fare, CATA pass, token, or ride card ready when you board. If you pay with cash, have your money in hand (U.S. currency only) when you board the vehicle. For those who qualify for the discounted cash fare please have your proper identification or discount card ready to swipe on the farebox or show the driver before paying the reduced fare.
If you need to transfer, ask the driver for a transfer ticket when boarding your first bus. Transfers are free and valid for up to two hours and can be used up to two times for travel in one direction.
Move quickly and carefully to your seat after paying your fare.. Public transportation drivers are not required to wait until passengers are seated before they move the bus – they must keep to a schedule.
Each bus has designated areas reserved for priority seating and strollers. These seats are located toward the front of the bus and marked accordingly. Priority seating is reserved for seniors and those traveling with a mobility device. Those traveling with a stroller will find ample space to stow the stroller in the designated stroller area. The driver will help board passengers riding in a mobility device.
Click here for more information on riding in a mobility device or with a stroller.
If all seats are taken, move toward the back of the bus and safely stand in the aisle, holding on to the handrail.
